Souper Bowl of Caring Luncheon

The New Jerusalem Youth are once again organizing a Souper Bowl of Caring Luncheon, on Sunday, 2/3, at 11:15 a.m. in the NJLC fellowship hall. This annual event will raise money for Rise Against Hunger, and we will be collecting a good will offering to support this amazing organization.

More than 29 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group: “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” Since that day, more than $143 million has been raised for local charities across the county through the Souper Bowl of Caring. It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around the Big Game into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving.

Every year the Lovettsville Church Community gathers together to do a food packaging event, and with these fundraisers we can help provide about 30,000 meals around the world.  Rise Against Hunger not only delivers meals, but creates safety net programs that provide nourishment, as well as additional skills training or services that support the difficult journey out of poverty.

Sign up sheets to bring a dish are available in the fellowship hall. Any questions, please contact Kim Chatfield at
