New Jerusalem Lutheran Church is seeking a Sunday Nursery Attendant to oversee the NJLC nursery on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interested applicants should send a résumé and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Sunday Nursery Attendant will provide nurturing care to meet the needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers that reflects Godly love and contributes to the children’s contentment, sense of security, and constructive activity. This includes teaching children about God’s love for each of them by modeling loving behavior to children, providing a nurture environment, and offering a sense of security for their parents.
Responsibilities of the Sunday Morning Nursery Attendant
Overseeing child care for infants and toddlers, and depending on the need, for some pre-schoolers during Sunday morning services.
Preparing the nursery/toddler room to receive children prior to their arrival. Fulfillment of this responsibility requires preparation be completed no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of the church worship service or other program session.
Insuring that all parents or adult guardians sign his/her child into the nursery each Sunday, with the adult providing a cell phone contact in case of emergency.
Insuring that any new family leaving a child in the church nursery for the first time receives the nursery brochure and is made aware of all nursery procedures (for example, sign-in/pick-up times and procedures, snack concerns, etc.).
Interacting with the children by using age appropriate books and stories, puzzles, songs, tapes, and games with Christian/Bible themes as provided in the NJLC nursery.
Returning the room to order and appropriately storing all toys, furniture, and supplies at the end of each session.
Working with any volunteer aides who assist with the program.
Notifying parents of any unusual occurrence during the time their child is in her care.
Coordinating closely with the pastor, education, and worship committee chairpersons regarding programs and procedures.
Maintaining a safe and clean environment for the children’s protection.
